Work from Home Tip

Buy a laptop.

Stay-at-home-moms especially can benefit from a portable computer. I’ve found that my work output has tripled since I bought the laptop. Although my desktop was in the family room, I spend a lot of time in the kitchen and dining room. Also, I spend a lot of time out and about waiting. This time is no longer wasted. I can have the laptop anywhere, ready to take a quick note or a paragraph. Surfing the web (let’s face it, we all need time to do that) can be done in those small increments, too.

What is your work-from-home tip?

I have lots of them since I work from home, and when I am not on the roads for my little business, my job is to be on the interwebs. My first tip is to have a timer and use it.

My second is to plan and to prepare the to-do the night before.

My third is to start working after you have done the same as if you were going into an out of the home office, i.e. bed made, shower taken, fully dressed (if you make up, put it on, etc.) and breakfast table cleared.

      Thanks OTIR!

Good working at home tips. I get dressed, but I don’t put on makeup everyday. Also, I definitely dress down… I was quite the fashionista when I was in the corporate world, and that kind of gear isn’t meant for the suburban terrain. Actually, those clothes are sorely missed! But yes, flopping around in PJ’s all day is some odd fantasy. Who feels productive in sleeping clothes?
